Our Ministries > Faith Formation > Catechetical Ministry

The definitive aim of catechesis is to put people not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ: only He can lead us to the love of the Father in the Spirit and make us share in the life of the Holy Trinity.

– Pope John Paul II, Catechesi Tradendae #5

Catechetical Ministry

We have a team of over 120 Catechists / Assistants and Administrative Assistants volunteering every week to support and guide the children and youth in our programme towards encounter and relationship with God.

In his recent Apostolic Letter, Antiquum Ministerium, Pope Francis instituted the lay ministry of catechist. Pope Francis urges every catechist to be “a witness to the faith, a teacher and mystagogue, a companion and pedagogue, who teaches for the Church.” Catechists “are called first to be expert in the pastoral service of transmitting the faith, from the first proclamation of the kerygma to preparation for the sacraments of Christian initiation, and throughout the process of ongoing formation.”

All this is possible, he says, “only through prayer, study, and direct participation in the life of the community,” so that catechists can grow in their identity and in “the integrity and responsibility” that identity entails.
