Christmas with Iggy: The True Joy of Christmas

Adeste Fideles!

On Saturday 23 December, we gathered as a parish family for our first-ever Christmas Fair. Christmas with Iggy saw our ministries and communities rally together for a special evening of food, music and festivities, as we celebrated the final week of Advent, and focused our hearts on the source of our joy – the infant Jesus.

Visitors were greeted by the sounds of familiar Christmas tunes and a life-sized display of the manger setting as they began their exploration of the fair.

The delicious aroma of festive treats and local dishes drew crowds as families and friends gathered to indulge in a plethora of mouthwatering delights. From traditional holiday dishes like roast meats and panettone, to local favourites like satay, biryani and otah buns, there were food stalls to cater to every palate.

Live music further elevated the festive ambiance, with Joyeux Strings kicking off the program with a rousing repertoire of Christmas songs. The Family Choir and DVC Choir then took centerstage throughout the rest of the evening to serenade attendees with timeless Christmas carols and heartwarming tunes.

Participants of all ages were invited to sign up for Scripture presentations, where they journeyed with the Holy Family, and pondered on the mysteries of the Christmas season through the stories of the Visitation, the Annunciation, the Nativity, and the Visit of the Magi.

The Christmas Market, adorned with twinkling lights and a Nativity-themed photobooth, offered a delightful shopping experience. Visitors were treated to offerings by invited vendors and Catholic small business owners, each showcasing unique faith-based products or handcrafted treasures that made for one-of-a-kind gifts for loved ones.

Children revelled in the array of fun activities, from temporary Christmas tattoos to Christmas card-making and personalised calligraphy. Laughter echoed throughout the Annexe Hall as families streamed in and out, greeting old friends and making new ones.

Amidst all the festivities, visitors were also invited to spend a quiet moment with Christ in the silence of the adoration room.

More than just a festive gathering, Christmas with Iggy was a heartfelt event that brought us together in faith and fellowship, and proved to be a testament of community during the most wonderful time of the year.
