Lending a Helping Hand

Social Mission

The Church Social Mission Team actively reaches out to those who are in need of assistance — these are our brothers and sisters who have ‘slipped through the cracks’ of existing social aid or due to the situation they are in, need additional aid or emergency assistance whilst they await receipt of aid from social service agencies.

The Social Mission Team interviews all potential beneficiaries to assess their eligibility for aid. This is to ensure that we not only take the right action for the beneficiary but we are also responsible stewards of Church funds.

Our team aims to address the multifaceted needs of each beneficiary, showing them the face of Christ as we journey with them. Financial assistance is but one aspect of aid. Providing mentoring and companionship is another aspect of the assistance we give. By befriending each of our beneficiaries on a one-to-one basis, our team is able to ascertain the beneficiaries’ needs more holistically and help them to navigate the various assistance schemes that may be available to them.

Funding for the Social Mission Team’s outreach programme is obtained from collections raised by the Church canteen operations, and proceeds from the Church Jumble Sale, as well as donations from parishioners and Church ministries.

Should you want to know how you can be the face, hands and feet of Christ to those in need, please feel free to contact us!
