Rooted in Faith, Growing in Community

Focusing on Strategic Direction

Our recent Parish Assembly, held on Thursday, 10th July from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, was a meaningful and engaging gathering that brought together over 100 parishioners from across the parish. The evening began with a heartfelt Year-in-Review by Fr Colin, who reflected on the parish’s key milestones and challenges over the past year, while also sharing moments of joy, growth, and renewed faith. His address served as both a thanksgiving and a call to action, reminding us of our shared mission and the grace that continues to guide our journey.

Following Fr Colin’s reflection, the floor was opened for a lively and thoughtful Q&A session. Many parishioners took the opportunity to voice their thoughts, pose questions, and offer suggestions for the year ahead. One major area of focus was the strategic direction of the parish, particularly the decision to continue deepening our identity through Ignatian Spirituality. Rooted in our Jesuit heritage, this emphasis will draw on the rich resources and expertise available at Kingsmead Hall, offering parishioners more opportunities for spiritual formation, discernment, and reflective prayer.

Building a Welcoming Community : Small Steps, Big Impact

The Q&A also touched on ongoing efforts to foster a warm and welcoming community, a key pastoral priority for the parish. Among the initiatives shared was the “Get to Know Your Neighbour” campaign, designed to break down silos and encourage more personal and meaningful connections between parishioners. Whether through simple conversations after Mass or small group gatherings, the goal is to help every person who walks through our doors feel seen, known, and loved.

Welcoming New Leaders: A Spirit of Service and Renewal

A significant moment of the evening was the introduction of six new Exco nominees: Darren Ee, Nicolette Rappa, June Seah, Sandra Leong, Cindy Yeo and Max Ho. Each nominee brings distinct gifts and experiences, along with a profound desire to serve our parish community.

All six candidates were successfully voted in, and their fresh perspectives will be invaluable as we advance our parish mission. We look forward to the energy, ideas, and commitment they will contribute to their roles.

Thanking our Outgoing Exco Members - Honouring Faithful Service

In the same spirit of gratitude, we bid farewell to four outgoing Exco members -Aaron Boey, Valerie Lim, Nathalie Tan, and Noel Liu, whose terms have come to a close. Each of them was honoured with a token of appreciation for their faithful and tireless contributions over the years. Their dedication has been instrumental in shaping the direction of our parish, and we give thanks for their servant leadership.

Looking Ahead: Ignited by Faith. Inspired to Serve

Having shared time for reflection, discussion, and celebration, participants left the assembly filled with a renewed spirit. The richness of our shared experience reminded everyone that we are part of something greater—an inclusive community united in faith and purpose.

As our parish evolves, it is crucial for all of us to remain engaged and active in these initiatives. Each member has the power to strengthen our community bonds. Through our participation, we will witness true transformation.

Reflecting on Our Journey

The Parish Assembly was not merely an event; it embodied our shared mission of faith, community, and service. As we move into the year ahead, let the moments from this assembly inspire us to deepen our commitment to our parish community.

Together, we can create a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels at home.

As we embark on this journey, let us remember that our shared faith experience is rooted in unity and purpose, with the promise of growth at every turn. May we continue to support one another, serve our community, and shine as a beacon of hope in the world.
